Celebrate the Holidays Safely to Encourage Healthy Smiles

Posted .

Healthy smiles begin with healthy teeth and gums, and as the holidays are fast approaching beginning with Halloween, our North Point Dental Group, LLC team in Corvallis, Oregon is pleased to help you keep your commitment to your family’s smile health. Even though they are surrounded by a bounty of candy and sugary goodies, you can still protect their pearly whites by striving for a balanced celebration.

Healthy Halloween Treats

— One of the easiest ways to encourage healthy smiles is to keep those candy bowls filled to the brim instead with fresh fruit. Crisp fall apples in all of their variety, and clementines or tangerines are easy to grab and snack on.

— Treat your family to healthy, snack-sized bags of pretzels, popcorn, dried fruit, nuts, pumpkin seeds, trail mix, and mini boxes of raisins. These are good choices whether you keep bowls of these in your home for your family or at your office desk for you.

— Kids love fun treats, you can decorate small oranges, tangerines or clementines like jack-o-lanterns with non-toxic ink to fill your bowls at home. These can also be handed out on Halloween instead of candy, and your neighbors (of all ages) will love you.

— Help your kids celebrate with non-sugary treats. Reward them throughout the month with festive treats such as themed toothbrushes, pencils, erasers, stickers, temporary tattoos, glow sticks, play-doh, sticky spooky eyeballs and wiggly spider rings. Treats don’t have to be sweet.

With just a few alterations to your annual Halloween traditions, your family’s smile health can be protected. Encourage them to pay extra attention to their daily brushing and flossing, and remember those end of year cleanings!
