How to Care for Your Oral Health When You’re 55 Years Old and Older

Posted .

Do you want a top-notch oral health as a senior? If so, you have come to the right blog! Our dentists, Dr. Glenn D. Balkins, Dr. Mark P. Swensen and Dr. Haslam, are happy to give you the tips you need to have a strong and healthy smile that helps you eat, talk, and smile with confidence. Those tips are:

-Brush your teeth twice a day for two minutes each time. Use a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste.

-Floss your smile at least once a day after you brush.

-Rinse your mouth daily after you brush and floss. Use fluoride or antibacterial mouthwash.

-Visit your dentist every six months for your routine dental cleaning and exam appointments, even if you have dentures.

-Try to have a tooth-healthy diet, which should include more fruits, vegetables, and dairy products.

-Don’t use tobacco.

-If you take a medication that causes dry mouth, talk to your doctor about switching to a different medication. Dry mouth promotes cavity development and bad breath.
